Guimaras is known for its sweetest mango but we visited the place on September which was not the season for mangoes. Locals told us their mangoes are pricey if off season and if we wish to taste the sweetest mango of the country, revisit on April to May wherein mangoes are cheap, unlimited and free!
How we get to Guimaras?
From Iloilo, there are 2 wharves to get to Jordan (Guimaras).
It’s either you go to Ortiz wharf or Parola wharf. Many will choose Ortiz wharf as it’s
the nearest, but when the weather is not good or if you arrived past 8PM, then
Parola is the port of choice. For us since the weather was not good that time,
we arrived at Ortiz port but locals told us that Ortiz will not operate so we
head to Parola wharf through tricycle.
Jeep ride from to Gaisano – 8.5 PHP
Tricycle going to Parola – 10 PHP
Parola to Jordan – 15 PHP (10 minutes ride)
Places we visited
You won’t be worrying how to get to your desired
destinations as there are tourism assistance right after you arrived at the
port. Prices are controlled so you won’t be worrying if the price of the
tricycle you are renting is overpriced. They asked what we prefer, to ride a
jeep or rent a tricycle.
Through Jeep – if you are not in a hurry or if you are
willing to wait for the jeep to be fully occupied before departing, then taking
a jeep is a good choice. Taking a jeep is our 1st choice but we were
a bit worried if we can make it to island hopping as the host told us it’s a
first come first serve basis.
Price: 30 PHP jeep fare
50 PHP
habal2x going to Raymen beach
Through tricycle – since we arrived a little bit late, we
chose to just rent a tricycle and the whole duration of the trip took us 40
minutes. No traffic, and the air was so fresh.
Price: 250 PHP
Raymen Beach Resort
We contacted Raymen Beach Resort to avail the island-hopping
service. 7 places to visit and for sightseeing. Island-hopping was cheap but
honestly, we are expecting there are 7 islands to visit but we only visited 1
island and the others are for sight-seeing only or with entrance fee. Not that bad
as the place was stunning.
Raymen Beach entrance fee: 25PHP
Island-Hopping: 500 PHP 1st hour (can fit up to
ten persons) succeeding hour, 150 PHP. See below pictures for more information.
Alubihud Beach - if you just want to just chill and relax at the beach, then this place is for you. You can also stay for a night at the place.
Natago Beach – this place is the main attraction of the
island-hopping tour. The tranquillity of the place and the beauty of the island
is beyond what I expected. At first, I thought the place was not that a beauty
due to the trash floating at the sea. A lot of trashes also piled up at the
island, but I think that was only due to Habagat that brought the unwanted
trashes to the island. Didn’t regret visiting this place indeed and how I wish
we stayed a bit longer.
Entrance Fee: 25 PHP
After the island hopping, we decided to just wash up. You
can take a shower for 20 PHP and buy a shampoo or soap at the area or better, bring your own.
Guisi Lighthouse - We decided to visit other places at Guimaras as we finished early than what we had planned. Didn't regret it as the place was such a beauty. The one of the oldest lighthouse and you can also see the newly made one. There are also pasalubong items in the area.
Guisi Beach - we got to this place for sight seeing only and this is just beside the lighthouse. A very relaxing place and wished we can stay a little bit more.
Pit Stop - who doesn't love pizza but mango pizza? Well, might as well try the famous pizza in town. Had our late lunch in this place.
Trapist - of course pasalubong must be on the checklist as this is a common trait of Filipinos to buy and give pasalubongs. It was a bit pricey but a lot of unique pasalubong goodies are there. You guess it right, usually mango products.
they also have veggie burger ❤ |
