Jess Roams Around Kalanggaman

Have you heard the jewel island of Leyte? You guess it right, it’s Kalanggaman Island. The beauty of the place spread like a wildfire and tourists instantly visited this wonderful place. The paradise island once became wasted due to irresponsible people who planted wastes especially plastics instead of footprints. But when I visited the place last February 2018, I am glad the beauty of the island has been restored and tourists are well informed to segregate their wastes properly.
Side trip
San Juanico Bridge
The longest bridge of the Philippines and is also known as Marcos Bridge.

Remember the tragic typhoon Yolanda that brought storm surge? This ship was washed to the land and killed thousands of people. According to the person guarding this place, they can hear kids crying and sometimes seeing them running. And a lot of ghost stories…We pray to these lost souls that they may rest in peace.
Sto Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum
This place shows you the things that the former president, Marcos used before. We didn’t get a chance to see what’s inside due to huge amount of fees. 60 pesos for every gadget used, 200 pesos for videos, 60 pesos for entrance… So we just took a picture of the place ๐Ÿ˜Š

Main destination
Kalanggaman Island
What’s good about this trip? It’s the island feels. Solar energy lit up the place, no water to wash the sandy salty feeling. Gazing up the stars and telling good old-time stories with friends, and even new-found friends.

Entrance – Php 250.00 with overnight stay / Php 200.00 day use

Lunch First ๐Ÿ‘Œ After the land and sea travel

Highlight of the trip? When for the first time you saw baby pawikan but surprisingly there are plenty of them outside the CR! Like hundreds of them swarming like an ant. Glad that locals are also concern of them and release them to the ocean. Of course, we helped them too! But the baby pawikans kept on coming back to the land due to strong waves. So we kept on persuading them again coz they might die and be stepped on. Can you imagine how we felt that time? It’s indescribable.
Accommodation
Stayed at Jet’s place and it was good. Away from the crowd coz the place was at the back of the front beach. People in there are friendly and helpful too.
Cost of Sleeping area – Php 1,000.00
