Saw a promo fare and I hurriedly checked the site to book a flight without hesitation. I've been seeing this paradise haven a lot in the social media site and pretty much intrigued to try it. So why not if it's a promo fare.
How to get there
Booked at Philippine Airlines (since that time, Cebu Pac was not yet available for this route) and the travel was so smooth. Just looking at the plane's window makes me feel giddy due to the surreal mini islands. Haven't seen something like this in my entire life!
Transportation
Upon arrival at the airport, locals were offering a van ride for a cost. You won't also be worrying what tour to try or where to stay as friendly locals are ready to promote their wonderful place.
Places we Visited
Mount Tapyas
Hyped to hike the top and good news, it's all stairs. 700 plus steps and it was all worth it as the overlooking view of the place energizes you and push you to get moving. It was summer of April so the grass were all brown but it still looks stunning, Breathtaking view awaits you when you reach the top wherein you can see the unspoiled place and just breath in, explore the mountain and take a good shot of the place.
700 steps to go but took a candid shot to rest 😅 |
Dipping on a hot spring after the climb at Mount Tapyas was a perfect feeling. And night swimming was the best therapy and just got a natural spa in this place.
Entrance Fee: 200 PHP
Tres Islas - (Bulog Dos - Banana Island - Malcapuya)
If you are a beach bum or just prefer to relax in the beach, then this tour is for you.
Bulog Dos
Two hours of Bangka ride and arrived at this little paradise. Crystal clear water, mini sandbars and overlooking view at the top! Coron never fails to amaze me.
Banana Island
Sign board says, "the rocks will go back to the ocean on June and the place will be covered in powdery sand again. And yeah, it was a bit rocky but at the same time, it felt so good on my soles soul. Keep swimming and you'll see giant clams or if you are lucky enough, baby sharks. The island was our lunch stop and boatman cooked the best island food and fresh fruits were served. Hungry tummy after all the swimming.
It's a feast |
Grab some coco refreshment in this place as you enjoy the view. Felt a little bit sepanx as this was our last tour for the day.
Tour C or the Ultimate Tour
Time to explore the marine wonders of Coron and without trying this tour, Coron trip won't be completed. And what's great about this tour? It feels like privately rented coz we are the only tourists in the boat 😃. After all the views and experience from day one to two? There will be more. See for yourself.
PS: The places I mentioned below were not the actual places you will explore as this may differ depending on the bangkero. Places below were also not the only places you will visit coz there are lots of stop over for you to swim in the middle of the ocean but of course, away from the sharks.
Siete Pecados
I was cautious to dip and reluctant at first to jump and swam in this place as I remembered the case of a tourist who stepped on a stone fish or sea urchin and died. But the place tempted me to explore it as there are lot of corals and small fishes in the place.
Kayangan Lake
When we say Coron, Kayangan lake comes right away in our mind as this is one the most photographed place. 30% saltwater and 70% fresh water, impressive right as I haven't been to a lake mixed with saltwater. The place was dubbed as the cleanest lake of Asia and the place is incredibly beautiful. Surrounded with limestone and crystal clear water. It's a paradise that almost makes it like a daydream.
Lunch Time to this I forgot the name of the beautiful island. And these food are all for my dad and brother 😆 |
I thought we will be seeing real skeletons but I am wrong. The Skeleton Wreck is a destruction of a ship that looks like a giant skeleton. Swam a few meter to get near the wreck and plenty of fishes greeted us. Bring some food like "puso" after your lunch if you want them to get near you.
Our second to the last stop. Low tide but who cares if the place was a beauty.
Last stop of our Ultimate tour. There are plenty of territorial fish so I just kept floating to avoid stepping on their guarded place. Didn't get a chance to see what wonder awaits us (due to lack of time) to the innermost part but just seeing the rock formations and the clear water are enough to let me fall in love to this amazing paradise.
St. Augustine Church
And that's a wrap. Our trip to Coron has ended but memories will stay forever. Visited the church to thank God for all the guidance and for keeping us safe.
