My first International trip and I was so excited. That
feeling your passport will finally be in use after 4 years of securing it in
your dark cabinet. After 20 something years of living the earth I can finally
see what lies beyond the country I have lived and grown.
I'm glad I never
listened to the people saying "all you can see is just a plain busy street
with big buildings surrounding the place". Nope, the place is more than
that. I got to witness what people do everyday in just five days. Their culture,
what they eat, how disciplined they are, old people still working, newspapers
are free! people there are always in a hurry π£busy subway ...and a lot more..I was a foreigner for the first time π½ and it was just wonderful to witness these little
acts but way too different from my homeland country...made me feel want to
travel other places more to discover not just wonderful places..but the place
as a whole πππ .
But my trip to this adventurous and elegant place was a
mixed of joy and thrill all rolled in one. Indeed a bittersweet experience but
overall, it was still great!
Safely arrived at Hongkong International Airport. We bought an Octopus card (150
HKD – 50HKD is for the deposit) which is a very convenient and a necessity when
you visit Hongkong. You can use it for train, buses, convenient store’s good,
and more. Rode bus A21 going to our Hotel, ChungKing mansion at Tsim Sha Tsui. Rested for a bit
before we go to our first destination.
Peak Tram –
Victoria Peak
Peak Tram, a railway that transports you to the upper level
of HongKong and where the Victoria peak lies. Running from Garden Road
Admiralty to Victoria Peak, it is the most direct route and offers good views on
the panoramic building of HongKong. Overlooking view awaits you on top.
Entrance: 90 HKD (585.00 PHP)
famous egg cloud but a bit expensive. Street food egg cloud is still the best π |
Disneyland
When you say Hongkong, you can’t miss to visit Disneyland
especially for the first timers or kid at heart. You can get a ticket through
Klook which is a very convenient site to get your ticket pass. The place opens
at 10 AM and no food and drinks allowed inside. The food in the place are expensive so I suggest to get your ticket with meal stub. Another tip, if you
want to get some stickers of your fave cartoon character or for collection purposes,
you can ask any of the Disneyland personnel to give you some. They will give
you a bulk of sticker packs. From the parade, musical show, the place was indeed a haven. Wait for the fireworks at night, it’s dreamy and magical.
Reality on the parade show but it was all worth it! |
Amazed on the Lion King Show |
The ice cream was expensive but the weather was a bit humid so who can resist? And ofc for picture purposes π |
It's a small world after all |
One of my fave ride! |
Who would want to miss the night parade |
and lastly, the star of the night. The rain suddenly poured down but the show must go on |
Day three
Macau
The Las Vegas of China. Visiting HongKong also means, paying
a visit to this place. Terminal is near the IFC Towers in the Shun Tak Center on Hong
Kong Island. It is near the Star Ferry, the IFC Mall, and the Shueng Wan MTR
station.
Hk$350 back and
forth: HK to Macau
Parisian
One hour turbo
jet ride from HK to here and felt a bit dizzy coz of the bumpy ride (due to
windy day) Free bus ride from the port to Parisian - Venetian and happy to know that they
want to promote tourism at their place π . The glam place that also smells good makes me want to stay a bit more. The
buildings' structure, the European touch of the place π their culture, fashion and the casinoπ. At first, I thought only a few people visits Macau but to my surprise, a
crowd of people piled up at the casino π.
π‘ Tip: always accept flyers and you won't
regret bringing them with you as there are coupons attached that you can use in
Parisian πΌ
Venetian
Boys over flowers scene, a famous Korean drama fever that
makes the spot crowdy as there are a lot of people wants to capture a moment in
the bridge spot. Look out for a lots of goods on sale. They offer a cheap one
but be sure to give the exact amount or swipe your credit card as some of the
seller change you with Macau dollar which is a bit cheaper than the HK dollar
which also means you cannot use Macau dollar in HK.
Senado Square, Business Zone
Took the free bus
πfrom Venetian back to the ferry terminal and ride
another bus to Grand Lisboa (but we walked 20 minutes to arrive in Senado
Square) no worries in getting lost coz everywhere we look π there will always be the "kabayans" to asked π
You can't miss to try what they sell and just take what they offer because it's
free taste!π and you can't miss to try their egg tarts
too (nope, not for free. The lady worker got irritated coz we pleaded to have
it as sample π)
Arrived hungry due to the long walk π getting back to
the hostel with a full tummy π
Ruins of St. Paul
One of the Macau's known landmarks. The ruins of a
17th-century complex in Santo AntΓ³nio, Macau, China. It includes what was
originally St. Paul's College and the Church of St. Paul, a 17th-century
Portuguese church dedicated to Saint Paul the Apostle.
Reality |
St. Dominic’s Church
Just near the Senado Square so why not pay a visit to this
holy place.
Pasalubong items bought at Senado Square |
Day four
Ocean Park
Ride all you can, cable cars, aquariums and pandas. The
activities and sites I am dreaming and expecting to be. But rain falls hard so
we just got to visit on aquariums and lucky enough, the cable car. The cable
car was stopped after we rode it coz of a heavy rain and thunderstorm. We also
got to watch the dolphin show.
Day five
After all the adventures we have experienced, it’s shopping
time! Hongkong was also known for its affordable goods. I am sure you know Mongkok
was the famous one but missing other places and not visiting them would be a
waste. So day five is a - place hopping time.
πTsim Sha Tsui - Central - Sham Shui Po - Jordan - Mongkok - Tsim Sha Tsui (to watch symphony of lights π) - Mongkok - Tsim Sha Tsui π
Food Trip
Honestly, food tripping in this place was not on my list.
Why? Because I packed a lot of food and I got a baggage full of can goods, instant noodles, biscuits, bread and eggs!
And I don’t advised you to do the same coz experience is priceless. I was
also a bit worried if there are food that I can eat in a foreign country coz I
don’t eat meat. It may be hard for me but my decision that time was a bit dumb.
But there are a few food that I enjoyed that I want to share with you.
Street food. Mine was the rice rolls |
7 eleven saves the day π |
Kimchi Fried Rice |
Cafe de Coral. Their menu changes everyday and lucky on our 2nd day visit, they served Vegetarianπ |
Got inside and leaved instantly. Out of budget food prices π |
Took our lunch at Venetian and a cup of rice and lettuce are worth 200 PHP π |
Airport breakfast |
Accommodation
ChungKing Mansion – If I am to ask if I want to stay again
to this place, my decision would be a mix one. The place was covered with
Indian smell especially inside the elevator but the place was too affordable to complain on that. The place
was a bit small. Imagining entering in your room also means climbing on the bed
right away but ofc we chose another room. But you won’t be staying in the room
whole day so this place wouldn’t be that bad. Tsim Sha Tsui is also a good place
to stay as it is near to commercial area.
Travel Drama
Imagine that you are so excited on your very first out of the country but was hold off at immigration due to some case of a certain person who shares the same name as mine. Well, should have expected it because I have a really common name. I was interviewed thrice by different officers. Then my boarding pass was lost upon giving it to immigration officer (who already left to have a break) and I overheard from her colleagues that my pass was swapped with another passenger. I also saw a boarding pass there but with different name. I was too stress that time and felt that tears started to well up since it was already boarding time. Good thing I was assisted by Cebu Pac crews and rendered immediate action to reprint the pass. I was also assisted by the immigration officers and help explain to the Cebu Pac crews to reprint it right away.
Because of this incident, I learned my lesson and think of it as a positive experience.Thank you to my friends who didn't leave my side despite the last call and to God who always listens to my prayers.
