The stairway to heaven in Iloilo. At first, I thought we won't be able to visit this place as we have to choose if we are going to Guimaras or to this place. Good thing we met friendly tourists who asked us where will be our next stop after Guimaras. And yes, at the back of my mind is to go to the famous instagrammable place which is the Stairway to Heaven concept of Garin Farm. These group of friends also helped us looked for a place to stay at Iloilo as the rooms were mostly fully booked when we inquired. Lucky to meet these bunch of beautiful souls.
Transportation
Meet up time was 8 AM as our flight back to Cebu will be at 6 PM and the farm was quite far from the place we were staying. We met at Robinsons and walked a few km going to the market to ride a jeep going to the Garin Farm. The whole duration of the ride took us 2 hours.
88 Plaza Hostel to Robinsons - 8.5 PHP
Jeep ride to the Highway near the farm - 70 PHP
Tricycle from highway to the entrance - 10 PHP
Tricycle from entrance to highway - 10 PHP
Jeep ride from farm to the terminal - 55 PHP
Jeep ride from terminal to Robinsons - 14 PHP
Jeep ride from Robinsons to Delgado - 8.5 PHP
The Journey to Heaven
The place is not just for sightseeing as they also offer activities like zip-line, horseback riding, kayaking, rubber boar, and they also have swimming pool and many more.
As the word farm, you also need to be ready of the foul smell of the place but it was bearable. The main attraction is the pilgrimage site. Walk a few meters and you can find the big cross. There is also a canteen in the area when you feel hungry or forgot to pack some snacks.
You can choose if you want to walk the hundred steps going to the site and watch the story of Jesus Christ or, you can ride the golf cart. We chose riding the golf cart as the rain was pouring really hard except for the 2 people of the group, who went for the stair steps to really feel the traditional way.
When we reached the top, time to cross the dark tunnel before reaching the replica of heaven.
Golf Cart : 90 PHP (good for 3 persons)
